On a Line

Sepia, Conté, Crayon, chalk, and charcoal. I used a skull while I was waiting for Physical Anthropology class to reference the face in the picture and then used memories from the lessons about the Holocaust in History class to draw the body. I wanted it to feel eerie and haunting despite the warm colors used.

Still Life

I drew this for my Drawing class at GCC as part of my graphic design studies. It’s a shading study. Since someone was intersecting the picture as I was drawing it, I did them too, even though they were moving.

Hand drawn lace

I drew this lace by hand first in pencil, then in ink.I reversed it in Adobe Photoshop, but did not alter it other than that.

Daniel Henney

My friend is a huge fan of Daniel Henney, so I spent about an hour drawing him from various portraits. He’s an actor that works in Korea and somewhat the US.

Fireflies

Separate from my graphic design classes, I decided to take a class on Acrylics. We all painted different version of fireflies and learned different techniques. I enjoyed leveling up my skills. I eventually gave this to my grandmother.

Phoenix Hairstick

I drew this using various references to solidify a design for a hairstick I wanted. It’s mainly liner Markers and Crayola. I do have alcohol markers, but I didn’t want to get them out. I tried to figure out the scale along the way.

No Guns No Smoking

My cousin’s young daughter set up a pretend animal hospital and drew the sign to the left. My aunt found it sad, but I decided to redraw it for my cousin’s daughter using a gun I found on the internet by sketching and outlining it. But I also thought it was sad that kids young as five are keenly aware of this being a fact. Since it made me think, I thought it was also something to put into my portfolio.

On a Cliff

I used a lump charcoal to create this picture. Yes, from a bag of charcoal. I did it freehand, trying to get a sense of movement.
